Lately I've been thinking it sure would be nice to trade in my old government in for a new model that could get a lot more mileage for a lot less money. The national debt is growing exponentially and the politicians we elect to manage our affairs keep piling on the burden of more and more government and associated regulations that stifle free markets and capitalism. Somewhere down the line we changed from a Republic that honored and valued the principles of freedom and liberty to an oligarchy, where special interests in the form of lobbyists for giant corporations and banks grease the wheels of government with campaign contributions in exchange for special interest protective legislation that benefits corporations while it drains the life-blood out of the ordinary citizens of this nation.
Huge federal beaurocratic agencies are empowered to pass regulation after regulation to micromanage everything within their grasp. Farmers are paid subsidies to not grow certain crops and corporations are rewarding for moving manufacturing overseas to cheaper labor markets. This is bass-ackwards in my opinion. Our military has bases in hundreds of countries around the world, we give foreign aid to countries all over the world, many of which regularly vote with our enemies in the United Nations, another organization that we support with taxpayer dollars.
So, the purpose of this blog is to deal with the reality of forcing our government to live within its means, on a budget. How do we balance the budget. No ordinary citizen can go on for any period of time borrowing money to pay the interest on their debts. They go broke. As a nation that's where we are now and we will either have to face these sad facts and make the hard decisions to change the way we operate or keep kicking the can down the road until our financial system collapsed completely. I believe that rather than higher taxes and more government, the only way to save our country is to return to the strict constitutional concepts that our country is based on. That will allow us to live with a lot less government and lot more individual liberty.
I welcome all comments regarding solutions to our national debt crisis and invite you from time to time to visit my new web site: Urukgina21, which is also brand new and is designed to offer provocative content designed to open minds to reality.
